The person behind the keyboard

I am Hiswill Kato — HiKa or simply Hiswill — a technology enthusiast and currently a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering student at Busitema University in Uganda.

I started coding in 2020, curious about how a websites, severs and how different technologies actually work. That curiosity never stopped: it widened into a love for everything around the code — Linux, the command line, servers, the cloud, and the small details that make a system feel simple.

I am God-loving and fearing Born Again Christian and acknowledge Jesus Christ as the saviour of my life.
I treasure transparency and I believe and love free and open source software, that is why I publish my work on GitHub for everyone to have a look at.
I also pay attention to things other people don't give attention to in code and design, e.g. a minor spelling error, text overflows, code that works but not conventional, even if its small for example someone else may see something like "Busitema university library" on Google Maps and take it easy, but for me I prefer it to be "Busitema University Library" .

How I operate

I always operate on the concept of simplicity. I prefer producing clean and simple codes. I always use simple tools in my work such as Git.

Where I am heading

I am learning the cloud hands-on and going deep into AWS. I keep exploring Linux too — different distributions, how they are put together, and how to set them up from scratch. Locally I run Ubuntu in WSL and Ubuntu LTS for my websites . I also look forward to learning cybersecurity in detail in the near future. The technology world keeps changing, but I will try as much as possible to be at the pace of this ever-changing technology world.

My Interests

I enjoy installing operating systems and software, working with web servers, and exploring different technologies. I also enjoy exploring AI tools and in fact use some AI tools to help me when am building my projects.
