HiKa

HiKa is my personal website: a portfolio and a small content management system in one. It is where I write down what I am learning and show the work that comes out of it.
What it does
- A public side with home, about, skills, projects and contact pages.
- Every word of the site comes from the database, so I edit content instead of templates.
- A private admin panel for the profile, skills, projects, socials, the hero terminal, the timeline and the inbox.
How it is built
- Plain PHP 8 with no framework, no Composer and no build step.
- MySQLi prepared statements for every query, and output escaped where it is printed.
- Bootstrap 5 and Font Awesome vendored in the repo instead of pulled from a CDN.
- Apache rewrites, so /about is about.php and /projects/hika is project.php?slug=hika.
What I learned
- Keeping markup, styles and behaviour out of each other\x27s way.
- Escaping output, checking CSRF tokens and guarding the admin panel.
- Deploying to AWS EC2 behind Apache over HTTPS, with a database that only listens locally.
